AUGUST 1, 2018 AT 12:00 PM
AT BENONA TOWNSHIP HALL
The meeting was called to order at 12:00 PM with all Board members present except Smith, and 3 visitors in attendance. Following the pledge to the flag, the Board reviewed the proposed ballot language for the road millage proposal for the November General Election. Shaw noted that the wording was written by our lawyer and confirmed by MTA. It could not be as specific as we had originally planned. There was further discussion of what roads this millage would be used to improve. A motion was made by Shaw and supported by Neuman approve the following ballot language and to place it on the Ballot for the November General Election:
Shall Benona Township impose an increase of up to 2 mill ($2.00 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution, and levy it for four years, 2018 through 2021 inclusive, for the purpose of maintaining and/ or improving public roads within Benona Township, which 2 mills increase will raise an estimated $314,852.00, in the first year the millage is levied.
Roll call vote: Van Overbeke-aye, Neuman-aye, Fleming-aye, Shaw-aye; motion CARRIED.
A motion was made by Shaw and supported by Neuman to adjourn and we were dismissed at 12:17 PM.
Margie Shaw, Clerk
