The annual meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM with all Board members present and 1 visitor in attendance. Following the pledge to the flag, a motion was made by Czurak and supported by Smith to approve the minutes of the March 25, 2013 Annual meeting as written. All members-aye, motion CARRIED. The Treasurer reported the total amount of taxes collected and distributed to be $4,901,132.29. Of that, the township share of taxes collected was $205,988.29. There is $310,115.51 delinquent. A motion was made by Shaw and supported by Czurak to retain Shelby State Bank and Westshore Bank as our depositories for the General fund and Ramp fund. Roll call vote: Burmeister-aye, Czurak-aye, Fleming-aye, Shaw-aye, Smith-aye; motion CARRIED. A motion was made by Burmeister and supported by Shaw to continue to hold our regular meeting on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 PM. Due to Memorial Day, the May meeting will be changed to Tuesday, May 27, 2014. All members-aye, motion CARRIED.

Assessor’s report: The Assessor reported on the percentage of change between 2013 values and 2014 values. March Board of Review is still in session so no final report was submitted.

Cemetery report: There were 14 lots sold last year, 5 lot transfers and 4 burials. Two monument foundations were placed by the Townshi

Fire Board report: There were 99 runs in 2013, 17 of which were in Benona Township. A copy of the annual report for the Fire Department was submitted to the Board by Smith.

Zoning Administrator’s report: Airy gave an overview of his activities for each quarter of 2013. Permit activity for 2013 was as follows: Regular Zoning permits-32, Critical Dune permits-8, Variance requests-2, Conditional Use permits-1, Sign permits-9, RV permits-32, Land divisions-6, Lot splits-1. Total fees collected for permits: $3930.00.

Park & Recreation/Township Maintenance report: Gentel reported that street addresses were established for all township cemeteries and parks. The beach at the Lake Michigan Oval is steadily improving from the regular cleanings. New swing chains and seat were ordered and two new picnic tables constructed. Large trees were removed from the township hall parking lot and the park. Gentel started monument foundation installation to provide stronger footings and improved coordination. A new hedge trimmer and backpack blower were purchased.

Final changes to the 2014-15 General fund budget, the 2014-15 Ramp fund budget, 2014-15 Shelby-Benona Fire District budget, 2014-15 Shelby Area Library budget, and the 2014-15 Salary & Wage Schedule were explained by the Clerk and discussed. A motion was made by Shaw and supported by Czurak to adjourn and the meeting was dismissed at 7:15 PM.
