The annual meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM with all Board members present and no visitors in attendance. Following the pledge to the flag, a motion was made by Neuman and supported by Smith to approve the minutes of the March 22, 2021 Annual meeting. All members-aye, motion CARRIED. The Treasurer reported the total amount of taxes collected and distributed to be $6,243,100.38. Of that, the township share of taxes collected was $263,384.98, and $34,168.72 delinquent. A motion was made by Shaw and supported by Neuman to retain Shelby State Bank, West Shore Bank, and Fifth Third Bank, as our depositories for the General fund and Ramp fund. Roll call vote: Neuman-aye, Fleming-aye, Shaw-aye, Smith-aye, Van Overbeke-aye; motion CARRIED. A motion was made by Shaw and supported by Neuman to hold our regular meeting on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00, with the exception of the Annual meeting, which will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 6:00 PM. All members-aye, motion CARRIED.

Assessor/BOR report: Fleming reported the there were only three walk-ins for the March BOR and 18 petitions processed.

Cemetery report: There were nine lots sold and two transfers. There were nine monument placements and twenty two burials. Several aging trees were removed and many trees and shrubs trimmed. There were also several requests for information for genealogical studies.

Fire Board report: There were 88 calls in 2020 and 179 in 2021. The increase was partly due to first responder calls.

Zoning Administrator’s report: Bizon submitted a report of permit activities for 2021. Permit activity for 2021 was as follows: Regular Zoning permits-68, RV permits-41, Land divisions-4, Conditional Use permits-1. Bizon did not have all the totals available from Airy’s permits and activities.

Park report: The parking lots at the Lake Michigan Oval Beach and the Ball Park were both paved and striped. The Stony Lake Swim docks and marina docks were refurbished with the help of volunteers.

Final changes to the 2022-23 General fund budget, the 2022-23 Ramp fund budget, 2022-23 Shelby-Benona Fire District budget, 2022-23 Shelby Area Library budget, and the 2022-23 Salary & Wage Schedule were explained by the Clerk and discussed.

A motion was made by Smith and supported by Van Overbeke to adjourn and the meeting was dismissed at 6:45 PM.
