The annual meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM with all Board members present and one visitor in attendance. Following the pledge to the flag, a motion was made by Smith and supported by Neuman to approve the minutes of the March 21, 2019 Annual meeting with one correction. All members-aye, motion CARRIED. The Treasurer reported the total amount of taxes collected and distributed to be $5,799,602.54. Of that, the township share of taxes collected was $248,319.78, and $15,373.47 delinquent. A motion was made by Shaw and supported by Neuman to retain Shelby State Bank, West Shore Bank, and Fifth Third Bank, as our depositories for the General fund and Ramp fund. Roll call vote: Van Overbeke-aye, Neuman-aye, Fleming-aye, Shaw-aye, Smith-aye; motion CARRIED. A motion was made by Smith and supported by Neuman to hold our regular meeting on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 PM, June through September, and 7:00 October through May, with the exception of the May meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at 7:00PM. All members-aye, motion CARRIED.
Cemetery report: There were three lots sold and eight lots transferred. There were eleven monument placements and eleven burials. New signs were ordered and placed at Benona Township Cemetery and Evergreen Cemetery. We also responded to several requests for information for genealogical studies.
Fire Board report: There were 156 calls for the year, with only 3 calls for structure fires. The grass truck is fully in use now.
Zoning Administrator’s report: Airy submitted a report of his activities for 2019. Permit activity for 2019 was as follows: Regular Zoning permits-36, Critical Dune permits-7, Sign permits-1, RV permits-37, Land divisions-9, Variance requests-1, and Lot Line Adjustments-4. Total fees collected for permits: $3,895.00.
Final changes to the 2020-21 General fund budget, the 2020-21 Ramp fund budget, 2020-21 Shelby-Benona Fire District budget, 2020-21 Shelby Area Library budget, and the 2020-21 Salary & Wage Schedule were explained by the Clerk and discussed.
A motion was made by Shaw and supported by Neuman to adjourn and the meeting was dismissed at 7:05 PM.
